VEGAS! How We Chose to Celebrate Our Thanksgiving!
*Readers, excuse this post for being over 2 weeks late! But, better late than never...
My partners and I spent our Thanksgiving, this year in Sin City. Yep - Miss Roo has never been to Las Vegas - much to our astonishment. Hubby and I have gone at least 4 times (most recently in 2008, 2009, and 2013). We both wanted to give her a trip she'd never forget, as well as return to some of our favorite sites and experiences.
This is a quick itinerary of our trip:
Thanksgiving Day
While on the plane I wrote the following...
"On the plane to Vegas with my Loves. It hit me just now that we are going on this amazing trip. And, this is Roo's first time! I hope to be open to new experiences and seeing with fresh eyes. For anyone that knows me - Vegas has a special place in my heart. Anyway, what a way to celebrate this year's Thanksgiving Holiday."
Walked the Miracle Mile Shopping Mall
Went to Fat Tuesday and got their biggest Daiquiris actually I stuck with their smallest size - I am a light weight).
Went to Photo Magic and bought a crystal photo of all three of us.
Attended the Criss Angel Show
*came out and confessed his amazing love to me. It was so heartfelt. I love those two so much!
2/27
Went to Hershey World and bought some yummy hugs/kisses
Experienced "Minus 5" a bar made completely of ice
Attended the show, Zumanity (Cirque du Soleil)
Walked to the Bellagio to see the Fountain show
Ended the night at Paris Dance Club

- we each had an 80 minute massage, as well as relaxing time in their hot tub, sauna, and steam room.
Went to dinner at a fine dining restaurant -
Saw Roo off as she went on the Roller Coaster at New York, New York. Hubby and I chose not to ride.
Attended "Light" Night Club ( ok, I opted out of the night club. I chose to get my beauty sleep before heading to the airport at 3:15am!)
2/29
Arrived home around 7am and went right to bed. It had been a really busy, fun-filled few days!!!
My overall impressions of the trip...
This trip felt, both, nerve-racking and exciting to me. My nerves stemmed from the fact that I had memories of Vegas from when I was still a couple. Now, I was part of a triad, and everything would feel different. As precious as that is, change is not easy for me. I would need to see this trip as a completely new experience (which, in fact, it was ).
Even though we revisited familiar hotels and places of interest, it really DID feel different. WE are different. I realized that it was a gift to see things with fresh eyes.
My compersion worked overtime, as I saw the joy on Roo's face at every sight, taste, and smell. She delighted in every new experience, and I felt joy at seeing her so happy (the actual definition of compersion, for those who don't know). She absolutely LOVED "Zumanity!" In fact, she said that "love" was an understatement.{ Even though hubby and I saw the show before, it was as if we saw it for the first time. It was amazing. } If that were not enough, the smile on Roo's face after her roller coaster ride was indescribable. She could have lit up the entire strip!
Suffice to say, I was grateful to share Vegas with my partners. It may have been a non-traditional way to spend Thanksgiving - but then, I'm non-traditional.
Roo - "My food at Raffles was the bomb!
AND... -on reviewing "House of Blues (for breakfast); "Great food, not great service.
My statement - "Criss Angel seemed like all production and no substance." (for a magic show, where was the magic?)
My thought: The Fountains at the Bellagio were awesome. The water "danced" to "Singing in the Rain!."
My thought: Minus 5 was quite an adventure. It was like sitting in an igloo (we even drank from glasses made completely of ice!
My statement: Gordon Ramsey Burger was heavenly and made to feel like an elegant restaurant. The motif and everything about it was extraordinary - that is until I noticed that they cooked my burger to be medium instead of medium well. I was a little disappointed. [I asked for medium-well].
